The original Project Worksheet (PW) was poorly written and did not capture storm damages correctly in regards to Category (permanent versus temporary). Insurance was improperly applied and client did not understand FEMA policies.
DMS was able to get $500K put back into the PW in first meeting with the client and FEMA simply by getting FEMA to apply the insurance reduction correctly. The facility was mixed use. FEMA’s early calculations only recognized 51% of the facility as eligible. We were able to get the percentage to 77%.
FEMA had captured several invoices in the permanent work PW incorrectly. DMS was able to work with FEMA to get $100K of repairs moved from the permanent PW to the emergency protective measures PW. This allowed the client to more effectively mitigate the facility and upgrade their electrical infrastructure. DMS organized all of their documentation to support progress payments from the State to the tune of about $1M.
