For more than 10 years, DMS has worked diligently with the State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Risk Management. DMS has been instrumental in assisting the ORM to recover from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike, Bonnie, Isaac and Tropical Storm Lee. During that time, we have had the opportunity to work with over 70 state agencies to recover from their losses.
FEMA’s combined initial damage assessment to repair and restore these state agencies was under $1 billion, which would not nearly cover costs to rebuild. DMS assisted in itemizing damages, documenting the scope of work, creating temporary facilities as needed, providing accommodations for over 5,000 residents, and completing repairs to standard. Based upon our analysis, we’ve made concise decisions to either repair or replace buildings accordingly.
FEMA ultimately agreed with our analysis. The total combined eligible funding for both temporary and permanent work to repair each state agency has amounted to over $4.8 billion and is still growing.
By utilizing grants, insurance and other funding sources, the State of Louisiana Office of Risk Management, and the agencies they work with have improved the surrounding community.
DMS’s understanding of FEMA regulations, recovery processes, mitigation and insurance has provided assistance to ORM and multiple state agencies with proven success. I highly recommend DMS for any disaster related services.
